Mandji Energy Gabon (MEG) was conceived in August 2019, after the new Hydrocarbons Code of Gabon was published on 16 July 2019, incentivizing autochthonous companies to engage in the upstream oil and gas activities of the Republic of Gabon. MEG was thus formed in February 2020 and soon after engaged in the pursuit of its first Production Sharing Contract (PSC), under article 100 of the new Code that gives preference to the national operator and autochthonous companies for marginal discoveries, and marginal and mature fields. MEG, as an autochthonous company, qualifies to negotiate a special PSC called Convention of Exploitation. Gabon is a Central African country with a long history of oil production (Gabon is a member of the OPEC) and a beautiful environment (enormous pristine forest and many rivers and lakes) and has developed a strong expertise at producing oil in a sustainable environmental manner. Gabon, as a very mature oil country, offers many opportunities for oil fields to be revisited and redeveloped using the latest technologies as well as the expertise of Gabonese oil and gas experts that have an unmatched local knowledge of the geology and production specificities. MEG is combining all the required components to become very successful in its undertakings and become the preferred company in Gabon for the maximization of the recovery of crude oil reserves from marginal and mature fields.
